Tate McRae Brings North American Tour To Washington, D.C. On March 27

Tate McRae brought her North American tour to Washington, D.C. on March 27 at the 9:30 Club with openers GAYLE and Mimi Webb.

GAYLE, who has gained much traction since the release of “abcdefu,” opened the show with a bang. She was relatable, vulnerable, and funny, hooking the crowd with jokes throughout her set. When her guitar string broke mid-song, she did not fail to entertain, still creating a moment that the crowd could enjoy.

Mimi Webb was next and announced that she was from England and this was her first ever American tour. I recognized Mimi from her song ‘Dumb Love’, which had taken TikTok by storm. She kept the crowd drawn in and engaged by covering, ‘I’m Not theOnly One’ by Sam Smith, and making sure she hyped everyone up to see Tate. Safe to say, the crowd was ready to give Tate their all by the time Mimi got off stage.

If you’re looking for new music, I would definitely recommend checking out both GAYLE and Mimi Webb. They were great live and the best fit to open Tate’s show.

Tate McRae came on stage with such fire, fueled by the screams of everyone in the room. She opened her show with “Stupid” (the song I found her from on TikTok) and the room went wild. The crowd was singing her lyrics back to her so loudly, sometimes I couldn’t even hear Tate’s voice over them. Tate had two background dancers and choreographers dance numbers to almost every single song. I knew I would be impressed by her talent at only 18 years old, but I was more impressed than I could have ever imagined.

Tate was one of the most entertaining artists I’ve seen live. She made sure to interact with the crowd, making the show a special and unique experience. She wished a girl happy birthday, took a pink cowboy and then sunglasses from the audience, and even held hands and sang to some individuals. Tate gave us background information on how some of the songs came to be and even sung an unreleased song from her debut album.

I will say, Tate seems to absolutely be crushing her first headline tour. If you’re thinking about buying a ticket, don’t hesitate! It is a show you will absolutely love.
