Despite summer not officially starting until their June 21 show in New Haven, Connecticut, Misterwives and Lawrence’s ‘Sounds of Summer Tour’ knows how to celebrate the season. This energetic co-headline tour stopped at College Street Music Hall last week for a truly magical evening.
Winnetka Bowling League opened the show and got everyone dancing to a song about falling in love at a CVS. Misterwives came on after and had amazing stories to tell between songs, including about their journey becoming a fully-independent band. The most impactful moment came in the middle of their set where the screen behind them changed to display “Bans Off Our Bodies.” Lead singer Mandy Lee spoke up about women’s reproductive rights which unfortunately ended up being taken away only a few days later. They followed it up with a cover of “Just a Girl” by No Doubt, and the entire crowd was applauding afterwards for the amazing statement.
Lawrence closed out the night by performing a range of songs including those off of their new album, Hotel TV. A band since college, they’ve played so many covers of other songs that they have enough to put the titles on small balls in a cooler and randomly select them on stage. The night ended with a combined performance of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” as Misterwives came back on stage one last time. These three amazing bands are worth your support and deserve the massive success that came from this tour!
