Four Chord Musical Festival Day 1: Photo Gallery & Review

Four Chord Festival expanded into a two-day pop punk jammed weekend full of festivities, drinks, and killer music for 2022. Although the sun was out and the humidity was high, it didn’t stop music lovers from traveling all over the United States to join together and see some of their favorite bands. With music ranging from Descendants to State Champs, all pop-punk and rock lovers were in for a treat. It was really cool getting to see the age range of the crowd and the differences between the two days. On top of the kick ass line up, there were so many local vendors and foods to check out throughout the day. You could even get a tattoo in the middle of the festival if you wanted!

Friday started out with Don’t Panic, Atlantic Wasteland, and Grumpster. It was really fun getting to see some of the smaller bands open up this crazy festival. Of course you had fans that held their spot at the barricade all day for the one band they were really there to see, but a lot of fans bounced back and forth between the two stages to check out all the bands throughout the day. Friday was geared towards an older generation of punk rock legends.

Two bands that I [Angelo] enjoyed seeing on Day 1 were Destroy Boys and Atlantic Wasteland.

Destroy Boys is easily the most traditional punk band on this list and delivers a show that matches punk rock level energy. Destroy Boys is a three piece riot grrrl band from Sacramento, California. Destroy Boys have bigs plans in the works, you can catch them at any of these upcoming festivals, Nothing Fest IV, Dia De Los Deftones, Zona Music Festival, Slam Dunk Fest 2023, and many other upcoming shows like opening for Highly Suspect later this month at Red Rocks with Iann Dior and Spiritbox.

Maybe the least widely known band on this list but has incredible potential to turn ripples into waves is Atlantic Wasteland. Atlantic Wasteland is a Sulky Rock band based out of Pittsburgh. Atlantic Wasteland has a full spectrum of variety in their music, with a slow melodic song like “A Dog Named Fletcher” to something a more upbeat with pop influences like “It’s Mid July, Take Off the Beanie” to their latest release “Dissensitized” with heavier influences. Atlantic Wasteland has a little bit of everything and can appeal to fans of any rock subgenres. Now is a good time to hop on the Atlantic Wasteland fan train because they have nowhere to go but up, follow along with their journey on Instagram @atlwasteland.

Closing out the day with Pennywise, Descendants, and Bad Religion. As the sun began to set and music carried into the night, the crowd was head banging, crowd surfing, and enjoying every second of it.

While there were a few bumps in the road for the photographers I [Shelby] was pretty impressed by the festivals itself. We met some incredible artists and photographers; all while getting to see so many of our favorite bands.
