Grandson Brings ‘I Love You, I’m Trying’ Tour With K.Flay And DE’WAYNE To NC

Grandson’s ‘I Love You, I’m Trying’ Tour brought the energy to The Fillmore Charlotte in North Carolina with nearly two thousand people – the largest show of the tour. With co-headliner K.Flay and opener DE’WAYNE, the lineup consisted of three rock stars who also contain elements of pop (K.Flay) and rap (Grandson and DE’WAYNE).

DE’WAYNE certainly knows how to hype up a crowd. Seeing him open for various different artists in the past, the crowd loves him and always reciprocates his energy. He was a great opener for this tour.

When co-headliner K.Flay took the stage, the crowd was still full of energy. Despite recently going deaf in one ear and thinking she’d never tour again, she gave all she had on that stage, including even playing a few unreleased songs. Furthering themes of inclusivity of the tour, K.Flay took a moment to acknowledge all the “weird” people in the room, ensuring them that they are not alone.

Finally, as Grandson took the stage, an interesting stage set revealed, consisting of park benches and lamps as the he emerged from the shadows. One of the themes of Grandson’s recent album, I Love You, I’m Trying, is to care for others, which certainly translated into the show. He made sure to direct crowds to their nearest security guard for help, and encouraged fans to hug their neighbors and make them feel included. This tour with all three artists is certainly the place to go if you want to rock out with strangers-turned-friends.
