After an almost two-year hiatus, the Great South Bay Music Festival, presented by Blue Point Brewing Co., will be back and bigger than ever from Thursday, July 7 through Sunday, July 10, 2022. This music and arts festival will take place at the picturesque waterfront at Shorefront Park in Patchogue Village.
Great South Bay is a proud part of the Long Island Community and is committed to doing all that they can to support the less fortunate Long Island brothers and sisters. Great South Bay will continue to donate $1 from every ticket sold, to the GSB-Stony Brook Cancer Center Fund. To date, the fest has raised over a quarter of a million dollars for the cancer center.
Big things are planned for the 14th anniversary of the festival, including over 55 performers on three stages in various genres. One of our favorite parts of the festival is the variety of music with artists in classic and contemporary rock, blues, indie, jam, pop, Americana, country, reggae, and funk genres. Along with that, the fest boasts multiple craft beer and wine tents, an artisan and craft market, and food court offering a diverse gourmet menu.
Out of the four days, the kickoff date is our overall favorite day. Artists we have covered before, like Manchester Orchestra and Grouplove, will be co-headliners. Long Island’s own Bayside will support as well. Other artists like Family Dinner, Zuli Jr., Scared 20, and more will perform. It’s a great kickoff day with ten performers on two stages.
Headlining Friday, July 8, is California reggae band and touring juggernaut Rebelution. The revolutionary and legendary Steel Pulse supports, along with Badfish, Bumpin Uglies and the emerging Long Island hometown group Oogee Wawa. On Friday, there will be fifteen performers on three stages.
One of our personal favorites, Keep Flying, will be performing on Friday as well.
Saturday at the festival is typically “Jam Day,” but 2022 brings the most eclectic and diverse lineup to date. Headlining the main stage is one of the Grateful Dead’s most proud and popular tributes: Joe Russo’s Almost Dead.
Returning to the stage is one of the pre-eminent progressive rock bands today, moe. with New Orleans funk, jazz and “impossible to categorize” Galactic. Other artists performing include Aqueous, Aubrey Haddard, and The Allmost Brothers.
Saturday is the biggest day of the four days with nineteen performers on three stages.
The festival will close on Sunday with what has been called “The best show on the road today.”
The Tedeschi Trucks Band and the “Wheels of Soul” Tour will play a rocking two-hour set, in their only metro NY Summer appearance. Along with that, appearing on the Main Stage will be Americana-Heartland Rockers: Los Lobos, plus Nashville singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist: Gabe Dixon and his Band. Sunday will be a great way to finish off the four days with fourteen performers on three stages.
More information on all of the artists performing can be found on the official Great South Bay website here.
The Great South Bay festival has always supported and presented original emerging artists. Some new talented original artists to keep on your radar this year include The Robinson Treacher Band, Quarter Horse, Whatever We Are, Aubrey Haddard, Oogee Wawa, Zuli Jr., Scared 20, and Samsara.
The festival has been known to be a family event. Children ten and under are free and all kids will love the ‘KIDZONE’ which features quality, educational fun, children’s entertainment all day, Saturday and Sunday.
