Hangout Music Festival took place in Gulf Shores, Alabama on May 17-19th. The festival brings together a blend of artists and genres as well as other fun things to see and do. With music spread out between multiple stages there is never a dull moment. And there are plenty of food options while you’re hanging around and plenty of booths to stop at and check out. The days are definitely filled with nonstop fun.
Friday, May 17th
My day started off with The Stews on the Hangout stage. I was so excited to finally catch their set after being a fan of theirs for a while, and they definitely did not disappoint.
After their set I headed over to the new Shoreline stage to catch Brenn! who I have been following on Tiktok for a while. He mentioned that it was only his 10th live show ever, I was so impressed by this and the fact that he already had fans screaming the lyrics in the front row.
David Kushner took over the Hangout stage with his powerful lyrics and vocals. I always enjoy seeing him live and recommend seeing him if you get the chance!Next up was The Beaches back on the Shoreline stage. Hearing “Blame Brett” live was one of my favorites.
I made my way to the Mermaid stage for the first time this year for G Flip’s set, which I was so excited for. They absolutely killed it with their high energy and I didn’t want to leave but I had to run back to Shoreline to catch Del Water Gap when his set started early. Del Water Gap was one of my favorite sets of the weekend. The way he moves around on stage makes for fun photos and for a fun set just to enjoy.
Another one of my favorite sets was Dominic Fike’s. He is so funny and made jokes and comments about his songs throughout the set. “She Wants My Money” live is always a highlight for me.
Matt Maeson played on the Mermaid stage as it was getting dark out and it was such a beautiful set. He captivated the crowd with just him and a guitar, under the lights.
To close out the night, Lana Del Rey took over the Hangout stage. The set started late but was made up for by her grand entrance and multiple collabs she brought out.

Saturday, May 18th
Willow Avalon was the first set of day 2. I hadn’t heard her music beforehand but I was pleasantly surprised. Knox took over the Hangout stage and wowed the crowd with his songs “Sneakers” and “Not The 1975”.
I was super excited to finally see Chappell Roan live. The crowd was full of pink, cowboy hats, and sparkles. The energy going through the crowd was infectious with everyone jumping up and down and chanting before she hit the stage. She definitely did not disappoint. Her set was filled with fun and excitement and love from everyone around.
At 19 years old, Jessie Murph is doing what some can only dream of doing. She is so talented and kind and her set was so well put together. It was so much fun to watch and it looked like she was having just as much fun too.
After being a fan of Karmin for years and seeing them live a decade ago, I was excited to see Amy’s new project as Qveen Herby. She transformed the Shoreline stage to her own world for her time on stage and had everyone’s attention. From entering in a purple cloak, to dancing around the stage, she definitely made it a set to remember.
Cage The Elephant put on arguably the most energetic set of the festival. They interacted with fans while running through the aisles of the photo pit and played through their deeply loved songs. It was so much fun to witness.
ODESZA was the headliner for day 2. With the lights and stage set up and pyro, it made for such an hype crowd and exciting way to end the night.

Sunday, May 19th
Day 3 was a shorter day for me. It was nice to relax a little after the chaotic days before. Little Stranger kicked off the day for me at the Hangout stage.
Reneé Rapp played the Hangout stage and the crowd that she drew was incredible. Hearing fans scream the words along with her and the excitement they had during her set was so wholesome. I didn’t want her set to end, she was one of my favorite artists of the weekend.
I ran from Reneé’s set to catch Wyatt Flores’ and I was so glad to get to see him perform live! He and his band were having so much fun on stage and it was such a great way to prepare for Zach’s set to close out the night.
Zach Bryan headlined the last day and brought the whole crowd together. Hearing “Revival” live is something I will never forget.
