Connecticut based band Bonsai Trees released their latest single, “Hope Ya Do,” on July 30th. They said on their Instagram, “’Hope Ya Do’ is a song about being unsure of their intentions, second guessing the love people say they feel for you, and trying to keep it cool.”
Lead vocalist James MacPherson also shared “‘Hope Ya Do’ is my favorite song from the new record … it’s a dancey bop/sarcastic falling in and out of love song: happy music, bummer lyrics!”
“Hope Ya Do” is their first single for their fourth album Slow Motion Real Life, which will be released later this year.
The first time I heard this song I immediately went to listen to their previous albums. It felt similar to music from bands I have been a fan of for a long time such as Real Friends, WSTR, or Neck Deep without being a carbon copy. Bonsai Trees created the perfect combination of familiarity and newness.
Being led on by another person is never a pleasant experience, but thanks to Bonsai Trees, anyone that can relate has the perfect song to sing along to. Be sure to add it to that playlist, you know which one I’m talking about.
